Revitalize Your Ohio Downtown

The downtowns of Ohio are key to the state’s economic future. Investment in downtown is a way to maximize existing resources and better position a community in the 21st century marketplace.
Downtowns represent the largest concentration of infrastructure and institutional resources for most Ohio cities. As the community’s “living room,” it also forges the image of a city or town that citizens and visitors will carry with them.
The core principle of preservation-based downtown revitalization is that a community maximizes its chances for success by concentrating on what makes it unique, and by emphasizing re-use of existing resources and infrastructure.
Preservation Ohio can bring a wide range of downtown revitalization services right to your door. These comprehensive services include downtown assessments and creation of strategic revitalization plans, part-time and full-time on site project and downtown program management services, design review and legal assistance, feasibility studies for specific projects, low-cost web design and marketing assistance, and the research and packaging of historic resources for heritage tourism. Other initiatives available include advice and training on the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit and the state’s largest program for realizing the benefits of preservation easement donation.
Heritage Ohio provides support for downtown revitalization initiatives under the Ohio Main Street Program. The organization sponsors an ongoing series of informational seminars and workshops throughout the year on topics related to community revitalization. Click here for more information.
